The kids sang "Praise to the Man" this week so well I asked our fabulous pianist for some fanfare. The kids loved the praise from the fanfare and understood how proud I was of their singing. I had her play it for me after primary so you get the idea.
Thank you so much for your blog! It is great! I was just called as primary choirster last week and I'm SO excited, although a little inexperienced and I'm so excited to have blogs like this to look at. I was wondering about your laminator - what kind do you have? I bought some contact paper today to start "laminating" things that way, but I know a real laminator would be best. I was going to get one on Amazon.com, but was worried a 9 inch one would be too small. Do you have any tips? Thanks so much!!! staceywalk @ gmail . com
ReplyDeleteI have a Scotch thermal laminator. I bought it at Walmart for about $30.00. The laminating papers work out to be about 50 cents each, although if I buy the big pack of them on Amazon it's less. I have seen these same machines at Kmart and at Target. It does a bit bigger than a sheet of paper, probably 9". It's perfect for regular size items, or I will cut some things in pieces to fit and then put them together on a poster. That big tree I have is in two pieces.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I will go to our local education store like Lakeshore Learning, or when I'm in Salt Lake I go to Utah Idaho Supply. They laminate big posters there for about 30 cents a foot. That's actually cheaper than using my laminator, but they also aren't open when I'm finishing visual aids at 10:30pm on a Saturday night.
Buying the machine has been worth it for me. I use it for FHE sometimes and also for some school projects for the kids.
I really wanted my visual aids to last, I use them all year and then sometimes you use them again! and again! So with all the work I put into them, I want to make sure they stand up to at least a year's worth of being used. Also it makes it easy to tape them up and not worry about ripping the paper.
